Chateau Palmer, Margaux

Neoclassical stone and slate château estate producing Grand Cru Margaux wines

featured in Vineyards & estates Updated

The neoclassical Château Palmer, with its white stone walls and blue slate roofs with conical turrets, was built in mid 19th century by Charles Burguet.

The façade is replicated on the labels of its exceptional Margaux appellation wines. In the grounds there is also a small hamlet built to house the workers on the château estate and some of these houses are still occupied today.

Ranked as Grand Cru in the Bordeaux Classification of 1855, its elegant wines are complex with a bouquet of fruit, flowers, and spice wrapped in a fleshy and generous structure. Their 55 hectares of vineyards produce some of the best Margaux wines, with the grape varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot.

When to come

The estate is open to visitors by appointment only. Visits can be scheduled Monday to Friday in the morning or afternoon, except public holidays. Group size is limited.
