A recent survey by 'Que Choisir' shows that hotels of all categories (from budget to 4 stars), have increased prices per night by between 37 & 180% during the competition.

From the 10th June 2016, France will welcome this football event, Euro 2016, for the first time since 1984. It will be hosted in nine cities across the country: Saint-Etienne, Lille, Bordeaux, Lyon, Marseille, Nice, Lens, Toulouse and Paris.

The room rates for hotels in these cities rose sharply for the evening of the first games on 10th June. In Nice, for example the average price of a room will rise from 110 euros to 162 euros, a 47% increase. And in fact, it is a 2 star hotel that registers the highest increase with prices increasing by 413% on the evening of the first game.

The prize however must go to the Ibis hotel located just 500 meters from the Stade de France where the price will increase by 726% (from 42 euros to 347 euros).

So if you are intending to enjoy one of the games in Bordeaux then it might be time to start looking for a hotel and get booking!
