Eglise Saint-Gervais de Langon
A beautiful riverside catholic church in the heart of Langon
The name comes from this churches location, It is situated between the banks of the river Garonne and the rue de Saint-Gervias.
Construction of the church began in the thirteenth century but was not completed until two centuries later. During the troubled period of rebellion, in the seventeenth century, some parts of the church were lost. The bell tower is inspired by the one for the cathedral in Chartres.
It was rebuilt and enlarged once more in the middle of the 19th century and since 2006 it has been officially registered as an Historic monument.
Worth knowing
