Chateau Laniote, Saint Emilion
Producers of Saint Emilion Grand Cru Classé wine
This estate is closely related to the history if the town of Saint Emilion since, nowadays, the hermitage where the saint lived in the 8th century, as well as the 13th-century chapel built there and the catacombs belong to Chateau Laniote.
The estate was founded in 1816 by Pierre Lacoste, a wine merchat from Libourne. The current owner, Arnaud de la Filolie, is a descendant of that same family.
They now cultivate Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon in a 5-hectares vineyard.
The very informative visit includes a video projection with comments from the owner where you can learn about the whole winemaking process, and you might even get to watch some of his magic tricks!
