Chateau Pontet-Canet, Pauillac
Grand Cru Classé producers in the Pauillac area
This large estate located in Pauillac features a 81-hectares vineyard where Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot varieties grow surrounding a beautiful chateau.
The estate was created in the early 18th century by Jean-François de Pontet, royal governor of the Médoc, who combined several land plots around Pauillac. When the neighbouring vines of Canet were added by his descendants, it became one of the largest estates in the area. A century later, in 1855, it was included in the famous classification. The facilities were modernised in 1865 by the Cruse family. In 1975, it was bought by the Tesseron family, who own it today.
They cultivate their vines combining modern and traditional techniques, using horses instead of tractors. They produce a Grand Cru red wine, with classical characteristics, and a second red.
